This is interesting! I've never heard of it before, but I'm a sucker for interesting beliefs and superstitions, so I probably would, depending on the price and the materials used.

Blind people are often portraid as without pupils, they cannot see. Some people that have cataracts don't appear to have pupils. The traditional making darumas without pupils is seen as 'rude' because they read into it too much. I honestly don't think that a self respecting blind person would see it that way. You could say the same that the legend behind it is against say people without arms or legs.
The pupils denote the state and status of wishes/goals.
